Ryan Michael Wamsley, 45, of Richwood, passed away on October 16, 2026, following an automobile accident. He was born and raised in Springfield.
Ryan was a 1999 graduate of Springfield North High School. He completed EMT training at the College of DuPage in Illinois and firefighter training at Delaware Area Career Center. He later earned his paramedic certification through Grant Hospital in Columbus. Ryan began working part time for the City of Westerville Fire Department in 2012 and joined the department full time as a paramedic firefighter in 2018. Ryan loved to ride the Medic and he received multiple EMS awards recognizing his excellent patient care.
Committed to learning and serving others, Ryan decided to return to college with the goal of becoming a registered nurse. In August, he completed his first semester at Clark State College and earned a place on the Dean’s List.
Ryan leaves behind his loving wife, Jodie (Davis); his beloved daughter, Kendall Wamsley; and his stepchildren, Zach Millard and Morgan Millard. He is also survived by his parents, Dan and Shirley (Parsley) Wamsley of Springfield; his brother, Neal (Lara Dietrich) Wamsley; his nieces, Amelia and Jillian; and his nephew, Ryland, all of Beavercreek. He also leaves behind his two cherished dogs, Duke and Dutton.
Ryan loved animals, especially his dogs. It always brought a smile to see such a big guy with a little Chihuahua curled up on his lap. He loved being outdoors, and some of his happiest times were spent camping, hiking, and exploring with Jodie. After discovering the beauty of Michigan, Ryan and Jodie especially loved taking their camper there.
Ryan was a talented musician who could play songs by memory on his guitar. He enjoyed all kinds of music and loved taking Kendall to concerts, whether the shows were big or small. Ryan was incredibly proud of Kendall’s accomplishments and loved attending her soccer games and other school activities. He was also talented at drawing, enjoyed taking on projects around the house, and liked to cook.
Ryan was baptized at age 12 and recently, he had reconnected with God. He prayed the Serenity Prayer each morning and asked God to put him where he was needed. Even in death, Ryan continued to give to others as a tissue donor.
Ryan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fellow firefighters. His love, generosity, and dedication to caring for others will remain with all who knew him.
Funeral services celebrating Ryan’s Life will be held Friday October 23, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Richwood Church of Christ, 29063 Sivey Rd.
