Roger Allen Blankenship, 53 of Richwood died Saturday, September 19,2023 at OSU Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on August 4, 1973 in Marion. He attended North Union Schools for most of his schooling and graduated from Graham High School in St. Paris. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses January 7, 1989. Roger’s greatest goal in life was to be a farmer. Although he never had the opportunity to fulfill that dream, he found his passion in lawn care—and that became his joy. His love for mowing began when he was just a young boy. While still in junior high, Roger started a small lawn care business with his mom. Over the years, that business grew, and at one point he had as many as 17 clients in the Urbana area. Roger had a true talent for making a yard look its very best. He took great pride in his mowing skills and loved his mower. Mowing wasn’t simply a job to Roger; it was something he genuinely loved and took tremendous pride in. Roger was a sharp dresser. In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball and golf with friends. He also loved snowmobiling. He loved kids and thoroughly enjoyed his roll of uncle. Roger also had a very special companion in his beloved dog, Reggie. Reggie was more than just a pet—he was Roger’s little buddy and an important part of his life. Roger will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Dodi Cornett of Richwood; his brother, Kevin (Katy) Blankenship of Richwood; and his sisters, Dawn (Joe) Speakman of Richwood, Ginger (Ron) Lopez of Lithia Springs, Georgia, Emily (Tak) Hozumi of Lewis Center and Tiffany Blankenship of Marion. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Blankenship. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 3:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 17700 Echo Dr. Marysville, OH 43040. Friends may call one hour prior to the Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 pm. The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home is assisting the family.
