James James "Jim" Chute, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at home in Richwood with his wife by his side on Sunday August 16, 2026 at the age of 61.
Born on February 15, 1965, in Franklin, Indiana, he was the son of Darrell and Marcia Chute. Preceded in death by his parents Darrell Chute, Marcia (Doyle) Chute and nephew Alexander Chute.

In November of 2002, Jim joined his life with Carolyn (Thompson) through marriage. Together, they shared 23 years of marriage. Jim's legacy lives on through his children: son Eric (Chelsia) Chute, daughter Chelsea (Timothy) Young, and stepchildren Bryan (Kimberlee) Porter, Ashley (Ben) McWherter, and Caleb Porter. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Shawn, Makayla, Carma, Lucas, Trystan, Mercy, Grace, Jaxon, and Abel, who brought immense joy to his life.

Jim's life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and love. He graduated from Grove City High School in 1985 and embarked on a lifelong career in the auto-body industry. Jim was a man of many talents and passions. His love for working with his hands was evident in his woodworking projects, which he approached with the same devotion and precision that he applied to all aspects of his life. He was also known for his love of singing and the freedom he found while riding his motorcycle. Above all, Jim served God faithfully, living a life of integrity, kindness, and selflessness.

His family remembers him as a man who was always there for others, offering help without hesitation and bringing warmth and humor to every gathering. His unwavering faith and dedication to his family were the cornerstones of a life well-lived.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the hospice staff and the funeral home for their utmost respect, professionalism, and care during this difficult time. A private ceremony will be held to honor Jim’s life and legacy.

Jim's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit and love will continue to guide and inspire those who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and his life profoundly mattered to those around him.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 20, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Pastor David Hudson will officiate. Friends may call from 5-7 pm prior to the service at the funeral home in Richwood.
Private burial will take place in the Price  Cemetery.
