Robert Andrew "Bob" Hildreth, 85, of Richwood, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 20, 1940, in Richwood to the late Ovid and Ellen (DeBolt) Hildreth. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Catherine Hildreth, Jack Hildreth, Dorothy Thomas, Midge LeMaster, Rosella Jarvis, Frank Hildreth, Mike Hildreth, Tom Hildreth, and Johnny Hildreth.
On December 8, 1963, Bob married the former Jeannie Longshore, who survives.
Bob was a devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather. Together, he and Jeannie took great pride in caring for their home and built a reputation for their hard work and dependability by cleaning numerous homes and businesses throughout the Richwood area. For 28 years, they faithfully cared for the Richwood-North Union Public Library, in addition to providing lawn care and other outdoor maintenance for many of their clients.
Bob also worked in several well-known local restaurants over the years, including Georgie Porgie, Isaly's, Heritage, and Carlyle's, where his friendly nature and strong work ethic were appreciated by coworkers and customers alike.
Known for his generous spirit, Bob was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His quiet acts of kindness made a lasting impact throughout the community.
In recognition of their years of service and dedication, Bob and Jeannie were selected to represent Union County in the Central Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in May 2024. Later that year, they were honored as Grand Marshals of the 2024 Richwood Christmas Parade, a fitting tribute to a couple whose lives were defined by service, humility, and community involvement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Rick Hildreth, Magnetic Springs; a daughter, Robin (Floyd) Carlyle, Richwood; three grandchildren, Kori Cooley, Wesley (fiancé, Kayla Berkley) Carlyle, and Ryan Carlyle; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Mackenzie; a step great-granddaughter, Katie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joseph Rhea officiating. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial in Claibourne Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be made to REAP Food Pantry, 235 Grove Street, Richwood, OH 43344, Richwood Civic Center, 235 Grove Street, Richwood, OH 43344, or Loving Care Hospice, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055

I remember him from The Heritage and Carlyle’s He was a very pleasant person. There were many times he brought a smile to my face. Because of his friendliness- we chose that restaurant as our favorite - of course, the food was awesome also.

Dear Jeannie and family. I am so very sorry for your loss of Bob. I loved seeing you two at all the basketball games together. He gave (with you) so much of himself to Richwood. Our Village will miss his presence. God watch over you and your family during this most difficult time.
