Gale “Gene” Clevenger, 81 of Richwood, died early Saturday morning May 30, 2026 at his home.
He was born July 31, 1944 in Marion to the late Luther B. and Helen A. (Swartz) Clevenger, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Marcia J. Robertson.
Gene was a 1962 graduate of Richwood High School. He retired from the Whirlpool Corp. in Marion after 44 years as a Maintenance Technician.
Gene was a man of faith; he was long time member of the Magnetic Pharisburg U.M. Church. He loved fishing and hiking, truly he really just liked being outdoors.
Gene loved his Buckeyes and his Chevrolet and GMC Trucks. He enjoyed going to car shows, to see the old ones and the new ones.
Gene will be remembered as true family man that loved easily and yet kept his somewhat sarcastic sense of humor!
Surviving is his wife, Sandra (Mattox) Clevenger, they were married September 20, 1986 in Marysville. Also surviving are their children, Linda L. Simpkins of Richwood, Mark T. (Kacey Jolliff) Clevenger of Magnetic Springs, Christopher Hockman of Plain City, Tonya (Jeremy) Samsel of Colorado Springs, Co. and Theresa (Victor) Mendoza of Richwood.
Grandchildren, Justyn (Paige) Clevenger, Becky Congrove, Christy (Keenan) Chapman, Dani (Aaron) Medeiros, Josh Simpkins, Chelsea (David) King, Max Hockman, Jesse Samsel, Cody (Carrie) Samsel, Dylan Wagner, Lane Wagner, Leonardo Rogel, Gabriel Rogel and Romeo Mendoza.
Great grandchildren, Sadie, Oaklyn, Bronson, Josiah, Sunee, Noah, Glori, Makenna, Mckayla (Keith), Abigail, Charleigh and Rowyn

Funeral services will be held Sunday June 7, 2026 at 4:00 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Pastor Karl Haught will officiate. Friends may call two hours prior at the funeral home in Richwood. Private burial in the Hopewell Cemetery will take place at a later date.

So sorry. Gene was a great friend and we had many food times together. He will be missed.
