Dennis R. Cooper, 79, died Monday May 11, 2026 at the Marion Valley Post Acute in Marion. He lived most of his adult life in Florida, but his heart was always here in Ohio. He lived in the Marion area since coming home from Florida. He was born May 15, 1946 in Kenton to the late Frank E. Cooper Sr. and Eileen (Oldham) Cooper. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Frank E. (Janet) Cooper Jr. and a brother-in-law, Paris Salyers. Dennis had served our country in the United States Air Force. He had worked for Quality Docks in Port Ritchie, Florida in pool maintenance. Dennis enjoyed the culinary arts; he loved collecting and sharing recipes with friends and family. Interestingly, he had a huge attraction and interest in the extraterrestrial, he loved to talk about UFO’s and even Bigfoot. Dennis was also a spiritual man; he knew his bible. Surviving are his sons, Curtis and Christopher Cooper, sisters, Sandra (Greg) LaRocca of Bartlett, Illinois and Diana Salyers of Marysville, and nieces and nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held Saturday June 20, 2026 at 11:00 am at the LaRue Cemetery. Elder Jon Lykins will officiate. Military Honors will be given by the Vietnam Veterans of America #1095.
