Jill Louise SilverthornRed Rose2Jill Louise Silverthorn, 70, of West Mansfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

Born in Kenton, on September 2, 1955, Jill was the daughter of the late Billy and Norma (Rogers) Neal. She graduated from Kenton High School in 1973 and went on to earn her associate’s degree in nursing from Marion Technical College. Jill dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Nurse, working for the Union County Health Department, North Union Local Schools, and the West Central Community Correctional Facility.

On March 6, 1976, she married her beloved husband, Jack Silverthorn, in Kenton. Together, they shared 49 years of marriage and raised a beautiful family. Jill's memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Jack Silverthorn; her daughter, Tori (John) Case, of West Mansfield. She was a proud grandmother to Mallory Case. Jill is also survived by her brothers, Jack Neal of Lima, and Randy (Robin) Neal of West Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Deb Neal.

Jill was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Kenton. She loved to travel, Jill loved to be anywhere with a warm climate. She loved her canine companion, Irish Wolfhound, Murphy.

But the true light of her life was her loving and devoted family. She always put them first in her life.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 28, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Pastor Joseph Rhea will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grove Cemetery, Kenton. Friends may call Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home in Richwood.

So sorry for your loss.  The caring heart of your mother and wife will always be remembered.  My most cherished memories are the quilts for babies project made by my students at Jackson.  I often look at the pictures and have fond memories of making those priceless loved quilts.

My deepest condolences to Tori, Jack and all the Family. Jill and I were in nursing school together. I have  many fun memories of those years together. From laughs to tears, I will always remember Jill who loved her family, nursing and life.  We shared many laughs and great times together. RIP my friend.
