Odell Daniel Jr., 74 of LaRue, died Monday morning October 6, 2025 at his home. He was born May 9, 1951 in Marion to the late Odell and Helen (Jones) Daniel Sr. Odell was a 1969 graduate of Elgin High School, where he excelled in sports; basketball, football and baseball. Odell had worked at the Whirlpool Corp in Marion. He loved old time music and enjoyed going to concerts. His family was so important to him, he was always doing things with his kids and grandkids. He will be greatly missed! Surviving are his children, Odell Daniel III of LaRue, Raefer (Heidi) Daniel of Marseilles and Kelsey Decker of LaRue Grandchildren, Justin Daniel, Preston Daniel, Amber Corwin, Heavan Daniel, Brandon Gilbert, Shawn Thomas, McKinze Kelly and Rylee Santiago 14 great grandchildren longtime companion, Susan Cobb  One sister, Marsha (Paul) Seig of Cleveland There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Friday October 24, 2025 from 5-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. He was one of the best athletes to ever come out f our town as well as one of Elgin's all time best. During my coaching days we had a bunch of great cell conversations. Rode our bikes around town, played basketball and baseball at the old school building, and hung out at the Corner Store. In high school we were classmates and teammates and graduated together in the class of 1969. I considered Odell a great friend and I'm very sorry for your loss. I'll never forget our adventures   together. I knew O’Dell better at the hatchery where he drove and delivered shipments for us. He was reliable, responsible and respectful. He showed the best attributes of both worlds.
