Harold Smith

Harold Smith, 82 of Richwood, died Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born March 14, 1943 in Galion to the late Reuben Emerson and Lillian Irene (Dall) Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jean (Hendrickson) Smith, whom he married April 11, 1964 and they were married for 59 years; a son, Michael Smith; and two brothers, Kenny and Walter Smith. Harold worked as a pipe fitter for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad and was also there when it was called Erie Lackawanna and Conrail. He enjoyed all kinds of car racing and motor sports. He was a talented mechanic and was always in his garage working on something with wheels. He was also a good welder and had fun modifying bicycles for neighborhood kids. He is survived by a son, Brian Smith, Richwood; a daughter, Patricia Rolstad, Richwood; grandchildren, Bruce Gibson, Sheena Stansberry, Jake Smith, Christian Bunner, Ian Smith, Lyndsie Hatfield, Brooklyne Dague; great-grandchildren, Justin and Cecelia Gibson; Azariyah Pickens, Skylar, Raven and Adalynn; and a brother, Richard Smith, Akron. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joseph Rhea officiating. Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.
