Robert LeRoy “Bob” RedmonFlagRobert LeRoy “Bob” Redmon, 90 of Richwood, passed away peacefully at Marion General Hospital surrounded by family on July 13, 2025 after a short illness.

Robert was born on January 23, 1935 in Prospect  to Pearl and Gertrude Redmon. He graduated from Prospect High School.

Robert was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was honored with many commendations and awards during his military service. Including the US Air Medal Award and the Bronze Services Star Award for his 107 Vietnam Combat missions, during his multiple tours in Vietnam his unit was responsible for dropping flares so troops could see during combat. He also received Humanitarian service awards for his assistance with injured service members during his service and community assistance he provided during a blizzard while serving with the National Guard. Robert enlisted in the US Air Force at the age of 17 and later retired from the Army National Guard after over 20 years of dedicated service. Robert was very proud to be a guest on the Honor Flight tour to DC in 2014.

Robert worked as a Corrections officer for the Ohio Department of Corrections and Goodyear (Marysville). Before retiring from Goodyear Robert served on the Safety Committee. He was named Chairman of the Rubber Section of the 56th Annual Ohio Safety and Health Congress. Robert also served on the Richwood Village Council and he served as a member of the Democratic County Central Council. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 870, American Legion Post 605, and Lakeview Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Robert enjoyed helping others, and spent much of his free time fixing things for family and friends. When he was no longer able to do much physical labor he mowed many yards for those in need. He loved his family and spent many summer days taking his grandchildren to the lake to fish and see the ducks, a pastime they will cherish.

Robert is survived by his children Paul (Sherry) Redmon of Dover, Debbie Redmon Houston, Pa., and stepson Terry (Debbie) Setser of Richwood.
His grandchildren Amber Setser (Jonathan), Eric Setser (Kristen), Kurt & Nicholas Redmon, Samantha Redmon, great-grandchildren Maddy and Kyla, as well as many nieces and nephews he kept in close contact with.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Grace Setser Redmon in 2002, his parents Gertrude Wood Redmon and Pearl Redmon, siblings Maxine Brown, Dave Redmon, Betty Johnson, Eileen Dennis, Gerald Redmon and Lowell Redmon.

The family would like to thank all those who were a help to Bob including the staff at Marion General Hospital for their wonderful care in his last weeks. Especially for the dignified military service they conducted after his death.

Graveside services will be held Friday August 8, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Prospect Cemetery. Pastor Joseph Rhea will offciate. There will be Military Honors given by the Vietnam Veterans of America #1095.

Bob was an inspiration to all. He not only loved and proudly served his country and we would see him helping mow neighbors yards then hand out a prized tomato or some horseradish he made! He will be missed. Our deepest sympathy to all.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Bob and my dad, Tom Ralph were very good friends. He took it pretty hard when my dad unexpectedly passed last year. I hope they are making a ruckus up there like old times! Bob was a great person. I loved to sit and talk to him , or be a victim of his ornery jokes. Hugs & Prayers for you all.
