Jim MetcalfFlagJim Metcalf, age 87, of Primrose Retirement Communities of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 16, 2025.  Jim was born Oct. 23, 1937, the son of Harry and Ethel (Levacy) Metcalf, in Athens.

Jim attended North High School of Columbus, graduating in 1955.  After meeting through friends on a blind date, Jim married the love of his life, Judy Reynolds on October 25, 1959.  They enjoyed 65 years of marriage and she survives.  

Also surviving are four sons:  James (Caroline) Metcalf of Bucyrus, John (Sandy) Metcalf of New Bloomington, Jeff (Jeri) Metcalf of Stow, and Jody (Jansi) Metcalf of Lewis Center, along with nine grandchildren: Michael (JoBeth) Metcalf, Matthew Metcalf, Mason (Lacey) Metcalf, Alex Metcalf, Chloe (Joe) Callow, Joseph Metcalf, Harrison (Sarah) Metcalf, Robert Straveler and David Straveler and four great-grandchildren: Grayson, Maeve, Macey and John.  Also survived by Brother-in-law, Gary “Butch” (Marilyn) Reynolds.

Jim served in the Army Reserves from 1962-1968.  He was a retired barber and worked for Columbia Gas of Ohio for 29 years, retiring in 1996. Jim and Judy moved to Panama City, Florida in 1997.  He enjoyed taking care of his home, fishing, playing cards and spending time outdoors.  Jim and Judy enjoyed traveling and seeing 49 states.  He loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.  Jim returned to Ohio, residing in the city of Bucyrus from 2006-2023, finally residing at Primrose Retirement Communities of Marion.   He was a member of Emanuel Reformed Church at Green Camp.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday June 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Pastor Jacob Gilliam will officiate. Burial will follow in the Green Camp Cemetery, where there will be Military Honors given by the Vietnam Veterans of America #1095. Friends may call Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home in LaRue.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Emanuel Reformed Church at 4234 Green Camp-Essex Rd. Marion, OH 43302.

I Have Many Fonder Memories with The Metcalf Family Growing up , at Church and Family events throughout the years. A Great Man. He and  Mrs. Metcalf raised some very good kids. I always enjoyed talking to Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf. May GOD be with the family today and forever as I do BELIEVE Jim is with the Creator today.
