Carol L Marvin passed away on May 16, 2025, in Gahanna, Ohio, at the age of 78.
Born on April 13, 1947, Carol graduated from John Glenn High School in 1965 and went on to earn her degree from Ohio University in 1969. That same year, she married her college sweetheart, Dale Sokolowski. Together, they had three daughters Rachel Bruck, Tara Miller, and Shannon Jap until Dale’s passing in 1984. Carol later found love again with Robert Marvin, whom she married in 1990 after meeting at a singles dance on Valentine’s Day in 1988. They shared 34 years of marriage.
Carol was the proud mother of three accomplished daughters: Rachel became a nurse at Children’s Hospital, Tara founded the New Albany Ballet Company, and Shannon pursued a career as a psychiatrist. Carol raised them with strength and determination, ensuring each received a college education. She was also a devoted grandmother to Sam Augustine, Jessica Augustine, Madeline Miller, Bella Miller, Oliver Jap, Stanley Jap, and Calvin Jap.
She was baptized at Jersey Baptist Church in 2014 and held close ties to her faith throughout her later years. Carol was preceded in death by her father Clarence Waller, mother Evelyn Warrick Waller, and aunt Michelle “Mickey” Goss. She is survived by her brother Doug Waller, Bob Marvin, Rachel Bruck, Tara Miller, and Shannon Jap.
A private burial for close family will take place in Richwood at the Claibourne Cemetery on Wednesday May 28, 2025. Pastor Phil Duncan will officate.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the home of Tara Miller, 7300 Lambton Park Road, New Albany, Ohio. All who knew Carol are welcome to stop by.
