Harold R. DurbanNavyHarold R. Durban, 80, of Richwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 8, 2025 at Marion Valley Memory Center in Marion.

Harold was born in Cincinnati on March 3, 1945 to Carl and Adell (Rettig) Durban. He worked a majority of his life as a contractor and started his own business at a young age. Harold was known for being a self-taught craftsman, lover of dogs and building several homes and structures across several counties in Ohio including his own for him and his family.

Harold was proudest of his time in the service. Serving as a Navy Seabees clearing the way for the soldiers to perform their duties in Vietnam then traveling the United States to recruit potential sailors to the Navy.

Harold is survived by his wife Mary “Jane” (Grose) Durban, they were married May 1, 1977 at the York Center United Methodist Church. daughter Rochelle Lynne Durban of Dublin, a sister Louretta (Terry) Gaston of Tipp City, other nieces and nephews and preceded in death by their three sheltie dogs - Lady, Annie and Corkie.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 13, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Burial will follow at Claibourne Cemetery, where there will be Military Honors given by the Vietnam Veterans of America #1095. Pastor Floyd Radabaugh will officiate. Friends may call Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home in Richwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union County Humane Society (www.uchspets.org), 16540 County Home Road Marysville, OH 43040.

We would like to express our appreciation to the nurses at Marion Valley Memory Center for their compassion and care and to Sara with Gentiva Hospice Services for working tirelessly to provide comfort and care.

Harold was a great friend. We enjoyed many talks at the kitchen.. He was always bringing me something a tool, ladder anything that made my job a bit easier.. We will all miss him.. Prayers for sweet Jane , she is a saint. R.I.P. Harold !!

To Jane and family : Harold will be missed by many who knew him. On thing for sure he wasn't afraid to give you his opinion about the subject we were talking about. Then he would tell a complete one hour story about it. I will miss our conversations. Dave Amstutz
