Anita DavisQuiltingAnita Davis, 93 of Richwood, passed away peacefully Saturday May 3, 2025 at the Kingston Residence of Marion.

She was born June 1, 1931 in Warsaw, Ohio to the late W.S. and Ruth (Wilson) Mowery. Anita spent her early years moving throughout Ohio due to her father’s role as a minister. At the age of six, her family settled in Richwood, they moved away and returned twice before she graduated from Richwood High School.

On Christmas day of 1949, she married the love of her life, R. Don Davis at the Richwood First United Methodist Church, where she remained a lifelong and active member. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising five children: Cindy Schory of Hubbard, Dean (Ginny) Davis of Richwood, David (Tracy) Davis of Richwood, Chanin (Chad) Lowe of Richwood and Scott (Lou Ann) Davis of Marysville. Twelve grandchildren: Casey (Bob) Palko, Jodie (Ryan) Wamsley, Brian (Jennifer) Davis, Alicia (Logan) Rife, Kea (Nate) Burns, Adam (Megan) Davis, Shawn (Tiffany) Davis, Courtney Davis, Aaron (Ally) Davis, Amanda (Tim) Brokaw, Dustin Lowe and Kendall Lowe. And 23 great grandchildren

Anita was a dedicated wife and mother, balancing family life while also contributing to her community. She worked at Davis-Hughes Hardware, her fathers-in-laws store in Richwood, before assisting her mother, Ruth Woods in establishing the Richwood Civic Center. In 1973, Anita took over as the center’s director, a role she held for ten years before retiring. Her leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the Richwood Community.

She had a passion for quilting, finding peace and joy in the craft. She often created quilts for loved ones and even sold some of her work. Her love for learning and community led her to the Carpe Diem Club in 2012, where she and fellow members met monthly at the Richwood-North Union Library to explore literature and support local causes.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, R. Don Davis, siblings, Marguerite Hanahan, Esther Anderson, Joseph Mowery, Naomi Forrest and Wilson Mowery.

She leaves behind a legacy of Love, Kindness and community service that is cherished be her children, grandchildren and all who knew her.

Services celebrating her life will be held Friday May 9, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Richwood First Methodist Church. Pastor Joseph Rhea will officiate. Burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am at the church.

The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Memorial gifts may be made to The Richwood Civic Center at 235 Grove St. Richwood, Ohio 43344 and/or Richwood First Methodist Church, 18 S. Fulton Street, Richwood, Ohio 43344
