Michael “Mike” Huffman
Michael “Mike” HuffmanFlagMichael “Mike” Huffman, 52, of Urbana passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Springfield Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Following a 4-year battle with ALS.

Michael was born on July 3, 1972, in Upper Sandusky Ohio to the late Ralph Huffman and Sue (Schmelzer) Huffman.

Mike graduated from North Union High School in Richwood, Ohio, in 1991. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, including deployment during the Iraq War. Before his wartime service, he was stationed in Korea. After many dedicated years, Mike retired from the Army as a mechanic, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment.

He married the love of his life, Shannon (Blue) Huffman on May 8, 2001, in Bellefontaine, Ohio. In his free time, Michael was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR. Michael cherished any time spent with his loved ones, finding fulfillment in supporting them any way he could.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Shannon Huffman; daughters Patricia Lynn, Shaina Roshell, and Alexis Ray Huffman; son, Ryan Michael Huffman; In-laws, Deb (Joe) DeGennaro; sister, Sheri (Gary) Boes; two nieces, Krissy Barth, Kaylee Patrick.

He is preceded in death by his father and his biological mother, Patricia Marugg.

Mike’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to Belinda Weldon of Immaculate Home Care, a lifelong friend and dedicated nurse. Special thanks also go to Ohio Hospice, particularly his nurse Hailey Marquis and respiratory therapist Bob, as well as Gail Dodds of My Love of Care. Lastly, they express deep appreciation to his mother-in-law, Deb, for her support as a home health care aide.

Arrangements have been entrusted to VERNON Funeral Home, Urbana, OH. There are no services planned at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
