Robert Lee “Bob” Austin |
Robert Lee “Bob” Austin, 91 formerly of Chiefland, Florida, died Thursday morning December 12, 2024 at the Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kenton, Ohio.
He was born August 3, 1933 in Marysville, Ohio to the late Lawrence Austin and Alice (Justice) Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Austin and a brother, George Thompson Jr.
Bob served our country in the United States Army. He had worked at the former B.F. Goodrich plant in Green Camp, Ohio. He then retired from the Pompano Beach, Florida City Water Treatment Plant, where he worked for over 20 yrs.
Bob loved listening to the good old Bluegrass Music. He also got great enjoyment out of watching “The Price is Right”. When he was younger, he was a bowler and enjoyed NASCAR, he even had been a dirt track driver back in the day.
Surviving are his children, Susan J. (James) Rhodes of Marion, Ohio, Jennifer (John) Hoffmeier of Loxley, Alabama and Robert A. Austin of Chiefland, Florida,
Step-children, Michelle Bunker of Altamonte Springs, Florida and Mark Caspary of Vancouver, Washington.
Former wife and mother of his children, Mary E. Anderson of Marion, Ohio.
Sister, Louise Smith of Marion, Ohio
Grandchildren, Jayme (Spencer Hunt) Adkins, Heather (Trey) Tippens, April Tziganuk and Ashlee Tziganuk
Great grandchildren, Riley Adkins, Jack Adkins, Wrenna Tippens and Jamison Slusher
Funeral services for Bob will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chiefland Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hardeetown Methodist Cemetery, Chiefland, Florida. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue, Ohio and the Rick Gooding Funeral Services in Chiefland, Florida are assisting the family.

Sending my prayers and thoughts for the family so sorry for the passing of Bob. He was a great guy. Enjoyed him my family reunions he will be missed by many sending my love for the family.

Sorry to hear of his passing. We had a great visit back in September reminiscing of days gone by with a lot of laughs. My heart goes out to all of the family with so much love for each of you! Keeping you in my prayers.
