 Margaret Ellen Friend, 89 of LaRue, went to be with her Lord Monday evening November 18, 2024.
She was born February 5, 1935 in Waterloo to the late Oscar and Cynthia (Rutherford) Straight. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Ray Friend, and siblings Lewis Straight, Gerald Straight, and Leona Ratliff. Margaret attended school at Decatur. On February 13, 1951 she married Clarence Friend Sr., and he died April 26, 2005. Margaret enjoyed crocheting and coloring, as well as playing games on her tablet, Clue, and Euchre. A believer, she had attended the Espyville Community Baptist Church. She was fond of traveling and was extremely partial to her trips to the casino, or the family picnics at the lake. But most of all, she loved her family. She will be remembered for her goofy spirit. She is survived by her children: Mary (Tim Howard) Blankenship of Cable, Sharon (David Johnson) Webb of Kenton, Karen Lehman of LaRue, Clarence (Melissa) Friend Jr. of LaRue, Sandra Friend of Marion, Elroy (Sunday) Friend of Mansfield, Carl (Shannon) Friend of Marion, Michelle (Per) Westman of Sweden sister, Irene Morgan of Catonsville, Maryland Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday November 22, 2024 at 6:00 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue, Pastor Brent Layne will officiate. Friends may call two hours prior to the service beginning at 4:00 pm at the funeral home in LaRue. Burial will take place at a later date.
