Beverly Joyce Ridge |
Beverly Joyce Ridge, 97 of Richwood, died peacefully early Friday morning September 6, 2024 at Walnut Crossing in Marysville.
She was born August 26, 1927 in Columbus to the late John Phillip and Anna Pauline (Moore) Livingston. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Ridge, they were married July 27, 1945 and he died April 10, 2007. Also preceding her in death were siblings, William (Charlotte) Livingston, Jane (Bud) Price, John (Mary) Livingston and Robert Livingston.
The Livingston family, for generations, was predisposed to have heart disease and most did not live to 80. Beverly was the longest living. Even though she had heart disease and arthritis she would always say you have to keep moving and doing. She was a true independent warrior.
A lifelong resident of Richwood, Beverly is most known for being a member of the Richwood Garden Club for decades, and her profound green thumb as well as push mowing her acre plus yard until the age of 87. She grew up helping in the Livingston family greenhouse as well as the Livingston Clothing Store. She was a creative soul and worked with husband Richard in the craft/woodworking business. She and Richard were married at the Livingston home (beside NUHS) just prior to his deportation for the U.S. Navy in 1945 right after their Richwood High School graduation. After raising the family Beverly worked at Richwood Flowers and Gifts in the greenhouse and Buehler's as a floral designer. Beverly took great pride in having a nice lawn and flowers.
Surviving are her children, Richard J. (Sandy) Ridge of Richwood, Roger James Ridge of St. Louis, Mo., Randy J. (Sherry) Ridge of Logan and Tenah Ann (Scott) McMahan of Raymond
Grandchildren, Shelley Ridge, Lance (Shannon) Ridge, Erin (Chris) Patton, Ashley (Matt) Post, Logan (Efronsini) Ridge, Dr. Carmen(Rodney) Lewis, Eric Richard Ridge, Angela (Michael) Landon, Matthew (Laura) Ridge, Sara (Brandon) Borden, Bryan (Meredith) Ridge, Chase Ridge, Cody Ridge, Michael (Scott Akers) McMahan, Morgan Hitchcock and Maggie (Tom) Cremeans
Great grandchildren, Abby and Wesley Post, Nehemiah and Caleb Lewis, Adam Landon, Emily Landon, Audrey and Nathan Ridge, Mikayla Wells, Ben and Gabe Borden, Ava, Weston and Parker Ridge, Oakley and Owen Cremeans.
Funeral services will be held Thursday September 12, 2024 at 10:30am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Pastor Steve Fewell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home in Richwood.
Having a pot of flowers on your porch, a wreath on the door, nice trees and shrubs and seasonal decor was what Beverly enjoyed. Please use memorial funds to embellish your home with such.
Condolences and remembrances may be expressed at www.stofcheck-ballinger.com.

So sorry to hear about Beverly, she was a friendly neighbor who we enjoyed talking to. She was a hard-working lady, keeping her yard mowed and tending to her flowers.

We are sorry to hear about Aunt Beverly’s passing. I have many fond memories of the time we spent with Aunt Beverly and Unce Dick, Tenah, Randy, Roger and Rick. It was great growing up back then with so many caring Aunts and Uncles who would keep an eye out for us kids.

Though her passing was expected, it doesn't lessen the immediate sorrow. But better days lay ahead.

I worked with your mom at Richwood Flowers. She was a hard worker and never slowed down. You knew she loved what she was doing. She was a special lady. Thinking of you.
