  Sylvia Jean Keller, 72 of Marion, died peacefully Saturday evening August 17, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 24, 1951 in Dayton to the late Franklin George and Fortunata Mary (Mendello) Wilson. Sylvia loved the Lord and her family fiercely. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch or her youngest daughter’s patio with a cup of coffee talking about anything and everything. You can be sure that at some point in these conversations she would share the Gospel and Christ’s love for you! Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She supported them in all they did from academics, sports, to their careers. Sylvia ran a daycare business out of her home for over 25 years. She loved each child that was entrusted into her care. Sylvia was a little Italian lady who had a passion and love for cooking. Growing up she would watch her mother Fortunata in the kitchen where there was sure to be a pot of spaghetti sauce on the stove and a fresh pot of coffee brewing. Collecting great recipes to add to her ever-growing collection over the years and watching cooking shows on tv were also some of the things she enjoyed. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she always made it the most wonderful time of the year for her family. From multiple Christmas trees throughout her home, to lights, garland, and Christmas decorations, she covered every square inch of every room. During the holiday season, you could always count on the dining room table being covered in Christmas tins filled with a variety of cookies, candies, and fudge. She cooked with love, and you could taste that in every bite of her food. She was known for having the best sugar cookies (her mothers’ recipe) and peanut butter fudge! God blessed her with the gift of hospitality, she welcomed every guest into her home with a warm smile and open arms. She was always willing to be a sounding board when you needed to vent, the voice of reason when you needed to see things from a different point of view, or a soft place to land when you felt your world was crashing down. Whether you just met her or knew her for years, when you were in her presence you felt loved and genuinely cared about. The void the Keller family feels from losing such a truly beautiful woman and matriarch is great, however they understand that this life is only temporary, and Sylvia is now resting in her eternal home with Jesus, waiting for her loved ones to join her. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Roderic P. Keller Sr. They were married January 5, 1983 at the Victory Center in Marion. Also surviving are children, Emily (Kevin) Griffin, Roderic Keller Jr. and Franklin Kelly. Stepchildren: Shawn (Holly) Keller and Michelle (Clay) Tillman. Grandchildren: Chloe Miller, Adleigh Griffin, Kennedy Griffin, Scout Griffin, Sawyer Griffin, Lucas Keller, and Landen Keller. Sister: Sheila McClasky. Aunt: Kay Rinearson. Also surviving are daughters Lisa (Dave) Myers, Summer (Jeff) Eisman, and Kristen Kelly. Son: L.A. Kelly. Step-sons: Steve (Amy) Walter and Greg Keller. Numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members. Special thanks to the entire Tranquility Hospice team for their loving care of Sylvia and the Keller family. Funeral Services will be held Thursday evening August 22, 2024 at 7:00 pm at New City Fellowship, 675 Uncapher Ave. Marion, Ohio 43302, where friends may call two hours prior to the service beginning at 5:00 pm. Pastor Josh Hause will officiate. Graveside services will be held Friday August 23, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Claridon Cemetery.
