Margaret Genevieve Harruff, 96 of Perrysburg, passed peacefully Sunday morning August 11, 2024 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born July 16, 1928 in New Bloomington to the late Gomer and Genevieve (Sylvester) Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Harruff, they were married September 1, 1951 in New Bloomington at the Johnson family Homestead and he died October 6, 2018. Also preceding her were a brother, James Johnson, brother-in-law, Mel Chapman and a sister-in-law, Sharon Harruff.
Margaret grew up with her brother, James, on the family dairy farm and helped deliver milk to many New Bloomington residents.
After high school, she worked to obtain her bachelors degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Margaret’s career started as a home demonstration agent at the Wood County courthouse in Bowling Green, Ohio. In the early 1960s, she started her teaching career in Home Economics at Eastwood High School. She then had the opportunity to teach Home Economics in Toledo at McTigue Junior High and Rogers High School, retiring in 1984.
Margaret’s retirement years were filled with the joy of her family. She organized many family reunions that are fondly remembered. Margaret and George also liked to travel and especially enjoyed the trips with their grandchildren.
