Joyce Arlene Forrider
Joyce Arlene ForriderCrossJoyce Arlene Forrider, 84, recently of Chippewa Twp., Beaver Falls, PA, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, early Saturday morning, May 11, 2024.

She was born on November 7, 1939, in Urbana Ohio to the late Lewis C. and Mary Opel (Harshbarger) Zinn.

Joyce surrendered her heart to Jesus at an early age and never looked back.  Joyce met the love of her life, Ronald Forrider, during her short tenure at Malone College (University), and they were wed June 3, 1960. They spent just a few months short of 60 years happily married. As someone said, “They were two peas in a pod,” and she greatly missed him the last four years and longed to be with him and her Savior.

Along with her husband, Joyce spent the majority of her life ministering to Native American youth in New Mexico, Arizona, and Montana. Several years of her life were also given to service at Allegheny Wesleyan College in Salem, Ohio.

She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Aunt, and friend. Joyce had a great big, loving heart and therefore had a host of individuals who had “adopted” her and lovingly called her “Grandma Forrider.” All who knew her will remember her for her sweet, Christian disposition.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Lee Forrider; two brothers, Roy (Helen) Zinn, and Raymond Zinn; three sisters, Alice (Marlin) Kaup, Marjory (Joe) Brown, and Janis Sutterfield; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Williams and Gene Clady.

Joyce is survived by her four sons, James (Rebecca) Forrider, Brad (Cheryl) Forrider, Daniel (Mary) Forrider, Reverend Tim (Holly) Forrider; eight grandchildren, Carol Hardy, Jonathan (Nicole) Forrider, Crystal (Greg) Hoffman, Zachary (Brooke) Forrider, Nathaniel (Taylor) Forrider, Joseph (Brigette) Forrider, Aaron Forrider, and Rachel Forrider; seven great-grandchildren, Colton, Carson, Kati, Kristofer, Isabella, Ophelia, and Raegan; two brothers, Russell (Esther) Zinn, and Richard (Gayle) Zinn; one sister, Edith Williams; brothers-in-law, Leon Sutterfield, Dallas (Grace) Forrider, Gerald (Linda) Forrider and Keith (Vicki) Forrider; and sisters-in-law; Gail Zinn and Ruth Clady.

Friends will be received on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM until the time of services at 4:00 PM in the Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church- 1095 Newgarden Ave., Salem, OH 44460. If you are unable to attend but would like to join in the celebration of Joyce’s life, you can access the live stream of the service through the church’s website at salemwmchurch.org. An additional viewing will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the Fulton Creek Evangelical Friends Church- 10950 Fulton Creek Road, Richwood, OH 43344, followed by the interment in Hopewell Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband to await the Glorious Resurrection. Dr. Wayne Evans will officiate.

The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral is assisting the family.

She was my first piano teacher.  Although it lasted only 6 months, Mmy first instruction led me to where I am now.  I am eternally grateful for those first lessons.

We extend our sympathy to the family, I remember when She and Ron were young on the mission field seeing things they had sent my grandparents from there.  They certainly dedicated their lives to the Lord's work, now they can enjoy their reward.
