Marguerite E. Hickman
Marguerite E. HickmanApple PieMarguerite E. Hickman, 101 of Morral, died Saturday May 11, 2024 surrounded by her family at the Kingston Residence of Marion.

She was born June 1, 1922 in her family home just North of LaRue to the late Hugh and Virgie Ethel (Roush) James. She was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild Joshua DeWitt, six brothers Earl, Maurice, Donald, John, Herb, and Raymond James, and five sisters Lilia Mae, Doris, Mabel, Thelma, and Janet, as well as a son in law, Lowell White.

Marguerite graduated from LaRue High School in 1940, and not long after married her loving husband John C. Hickman on June 9, 1940, and he died January 29, 1995.

A true farmers wife in every aspect, Marguerite was a steadfast caretaker of the family farm. Raising her own chickens for eggs and also to butcher, she was never afraid to get her hands dirty. She would help in the fields when needed and took immaculate care of her garden that fed her canning habits. An excellent cook, Marguerite was known for her delicious meals as well as her efficiency (she could cook a meal for her whole family in under 20 minutes).  But most of all, she was known for her pie baking.

She is survived by her daughters, Diana Jeanne White of Marion, Sandra Sue Hickman of Marion, and Nancy (George) Wood of Radnor.
Grandchildren: Rocky (Pam) White, Jodi (Adam) Bertke, Jill White, Scott (Casey) White, Sarah McManus, Emily Wood, Deborah (Brad) Cox.
Great Grandchildren: Keri (Evan) Geyer, Cory (Taylor) White, Jacob (Kourtney) White, Zane McManus, Hayden McManus, Ethan White, and Madeline White.
Great Great Grandchildren: Lydia Geyer, Graham White, Grady Geyer, Lila White, Everett Geyer, Rhett White, Harper White and Remi White.
Sisters: Mary K. (Dale) Hughes, Virgie Ann Kinsler, and Betty Jones.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday May 16 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue, Pastor Joseph Rhea will officiate, burial will follow in the Frame (Meeker) Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in LaRue.

My sympathies to all of the family.  George and Nancy are friends. I'm sorry to say I have not met any of the rest of the family.  Losing a parent is very hard to acknowledge.  May the rest of your year go kindly.
