Joe N. Criswell |
Joe N. Criswell, 94 of rural Marion, died Saturday February 24, 2024 at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
He was born January 25, 1930 in Marion County to the late William and Hazel (Shreck) Criswell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane (Snare), they were married in October of 1949 and she died October 3, 2021. He was also predeceased by siblings, Ruth Hartle, Jack, Donald, Jerald and Tom Criswell.
Joe dedicated his life to his love of farming and raising livestock. He also had a passion for owning, breeding and racing standardbred horses.
In his pastime, he enjoyed going to county fairs, watching his children and then grandchildren show their 4-H livestock projects, coon hunting and going to the races.
Surviving are his children, Kathy (Robert) Nichols of London, Rick Criswell, Delvin (Lori) Criswell and Jeff (Suzie) Criswell, all of Marion,
grandchildren: Kirk (Tonya) Nichols, Kristine (Skip) Brown, Amy (Nick) Creasap, Sarah (Nathaniel Watkins, Sr.) Criswell, Levi (Katie) Criswell, Nole Criswell and Tanner Criswell
great grandchildren: Ashlyn, Hunter and Regan Nichols, Kiley and Katie Keckler, Skyler Brown, Grady, Jude, Marian, Ulysses, Matthias and Asa Creasap and Ainsely and Nathaniel Watkins, Jr.
great great grandson, Kaston Leach
Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Pastor Steve Whitaker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Green Camp Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home in LaRue.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Please accept our condolences on Joe’s passing. He was a really good man that raised a great family. I always enjoyed talking to him on asst subjects. We were always going to Coon hunting together , but just didn’t get it done! He will be missed!
