Harold H. Straw
Harold H. StrawFlagHarold H. Straw, 84, of New Bloomington died Saturday February 3, 2024 at the Embassy of Marion.

He was born October 29, 1939 to the late John and Myrtle (Collins) Straw in Kenton. Harold was also preceded in death by his wife Marline (Jones)  Straw, they were married January 10, 1958, she died May 9, 2016. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Dannie Straw and a sister, Sherrie Clark.

Harold served our country in the United States Army. Upon his return to the Marion area, he worked for many years at Marion Power Shovel as a crane operator.

Harold enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors, Indian Lake was a favorite spot. He was an avid collector of Indian artifacts, and was also always chasing a bargain, buying and trading his ‘treasures’.

To those close to him, Harold was the strongest man, fighting his entire life to be independent despite his physical handicaps. He was his family’s hero and always will be.

He is survived by his four children: Michael (Edie) Straw of Marion, Deanna (Larry) Rayburn of New Bloomington, Lora (Steve) Jeffers of New Bloomington, and Amy Straw of Marion, as well as 7 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren, and his sister, Teena Crowel of Marion.

Funeral Services will be Thursday February 8, 2024 at 12 noon at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home in LaRue. Burial will follow in the Agosta Cemetery, where there will be Military Honors by the Vietnam Veterans of America #1095.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Rd. Dublin, OH 43017
