Stanley E. Lauer |
Stanley E, Lauer, 81 of Prospect, died Tuesday December 26, 2023 at the Marion General Hospital.
He was born March 21, 1942 in Marion to the late Eugene and Evelyn (Harper) Lauer.
Stan was the salutatorian for the Prospect High School class of 1960. He was proud to still be working at the age of 81 at Hercules Industries in Prospect as their Director of Engineering.
He spent his early years as a certified mechanic, he used this skill to help many in the community over the years. He was a life-long member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prospect. He was an active member of the Prospect Knights of Pythias, the Battle Run Fire Dept. and the Marion CB Radio Club.
Stan enjoyed weekends in Michigan at the Holiday Shores campground with many lifelong friends. He traveled the region, visiting and photographing covered bridges and seeing the countryside. He was also an avid racing enthusiast, having spent countless hours designing, building and driving his beloved sand buggy and dragster.
Stan spent long hours trading stories with brothers Melvin and Donald along with good friends Dave Mohler, Ben O'Dell, Ed Wasserbeck, and many others.
Surviving are his brothers, Melvin E. (Vicky) Lauer and Donald R. (Beth) Lauer both of Prospect,
niece, Lori (Scott) Rowland, nephew, Brian (Abby) Lauer and step nephew, Jesse (Brooke) Hilliard,
great niece, Brielle Lauer and great nephews, Gavin Lauer, Ricky (Brittany) Roszman and Andrew Roszman
Funeral services will be held Friday December 29, 2023 at 12 noon at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prospect. Pastor Scott Schnapp will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect. Private burial will take place in the Prospect Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Battle Run Fire Dept. and/or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prospect.

So sorry to hear Jerry and Stan went way back and did lots of things together. He was a sweet guy. God bless his family at this time RIP till we meet again

I send my sympathy to Stan's family. I watched him grow up. He was always a good and kind man. He loved his hometown and the people in it. He was always there when he was needed. May he rest in peace.
