Helen Jean Smith |
  Helen Jean Smith, 83 of Richwood, died Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Country Club Nursing Home in Delaware.
She was born June 7, 1939 in Richwood to the late Francis Leo and Mildred Fern (Wilson) Hendrickson. The last of eight children, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Hendrickson, Donald Hendrickson; 5 sisters, Dorothy Dever, Hazel Evans, Ruth Rouse, Anna Louise Massie, Ruby Dowell; and two sons, Donald Shuster and Michael Smith.
Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and friend. She loved collecting things, especially cookie jars. She enjoyed gardening and just sitting on her porch, waving at friends passing by.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold W. Smith; a son, Brian Smith, Richwood; daughter, Patricia Rolstad, Richwood, a “bonus daughter”, Freda Gibson; grandchildren, Bruce Gibson, Sheena Stansberry, Jake Smith, Christian Bunner, Ian Smith, Lyndsie Hatfield, Brooklyne Dague; great-grandchildren, Justin and Cecelia Gibson; Azariyah Pickens, Skylar, Raven and Adalynn.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Glenn Montis officiating. Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.

My deepest condolences to Harold Brian and Patti and the entire Smith-Henderson families. I met Jean in 1984 when I was 15 that's when we began working together and a friendship blossomed. Jean was the sweetest lady. She had a naive innocence about her, she had the cutest giggle and a beautiful smile. I cared deeply for her and she will be missed.
