Tom G. Oates
Tom G. OatesWheatTom G. Oates, 74 of LaRue, died Saturday evening January 14, 2023 due to complications from a fire at his home.

He was born August 10, 1948 in Kenton to the late Harold and Mary (Dodds) Oates. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Shirley Mae Oates.

Tom was a farmer and had previously owned and operated the Old Mans Oasis bar in LaRue. In his earlier days he enjoyed working on engines and could fix most things. He also liked to mow until his health wouldn’t allow him to.
He loved his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

Surviving is his son, Geoff Oates of New Bloomington, grandchildren, Heather A. Oates of New Bloomington and Jordan (Destiny) Oates of Green Camp. Great grandchildren, Raelynn and Jaxon
one brother, Gary (Carol) Oates of Kenton

There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Thursday January 19, 2023 from 4-6 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Private graveside services and burial will take place in the LaRue Cemetery.

My condolences to the Oates family for the tragic loss of tom.rest in peace Tom I'm sure his mom was one of the teachers when I was in grade school at LARUE school.even though I never knew Tom , he  sounds like
Like he was fine fellow who will be sadly missed by many people.
