Olen N. McAllister
Olen N. McAllisterTeacherOlen N. McAllister, 85 of Richwood died Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Kobacker House in Columbus.

He was born June 8, 1937 in Kenton to the late C. E. and Marjorie (Wiley) McAllister.

On June 7, 1958 he married the former Linda A. Longberry in the former Grace Chapel in West Jackson. She died February 7, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret “Peggy” Hamilton.

A graduate of Byhalia High School, Olen earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Wilmington College and later on, his Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University. Olen was an Industrial Arts teacher for Columbus City Schools, retiring after 37 years. Olen loved people and loved learning. Educating children was his purpose in life, and whether it was his students in school, members of his family, or friends, he always cared about how they were doing, what they were learning, and what they wanted to do in the future.

Olen was active in his local church and enjoyed reading his Bible. He enjoyed woodworking and working in his garden. Olen always loved a good meal and good conversation.

He is survived by his daughter, Dixie (Russell) Bryant, Richwood; a grandson, Derek Bryant; two nephews, John R. (Katherine) Hamilton, Marion; Charlie (Christina) Hamilton, Lancaster; a niece, Kathleen E. Hamilton of Seattle; great nephews and nieces, Amanda (Zach) Baker, Sarah (Josh) Armstrong, Katelyn (James McCleese) Hamilton, Shane Hamilton, Dominique (Sade) Devereux, Olivia and C.J. Hamilton, Zander, Charlotte, Zain, and Zaiver Whitaker; great-great nephews and nieces, Kaleb, Rylee, Hayden, Colton, Garrison, Kalvyn, Zachariah, Kamryn and Neosha.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastors Jim Gardner and Donald Moceri officiating. Burial will follow in Byhalia Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 AM.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Christian Assembly Missions Fund, 1003 North Maple St. Marysville, Ohio 43040.
