Karen S. (Newman) Bump
Karen S. (Newman) BumpVioletKaren S. (Newman) Bump, 74, formerly of Marion and Richwood, died Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Bennington Glen Nursing & Rehab Center in Marengo.

She was born January 31, 1948 in Kenton to the late Paul E. “Curly” and Rose (Cramer) Newman. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Newman.

A 1966 graduate of North Union High School, she was a member of the Richwood Church of Christ, the same church she was baptized in. She was also a member of the Central Ohio Emmaus Community. She had worked at Ranco in Delaware and Plain City for 28 years total before she retired.

Karen was an avid Ohio State Football fan and loved the Ohio State Band. She enjoyed cats and dogs. She also liked electronics and riding the motorcycle in the summer. She even once took a flying lesson.

She is survived by her two children, Barb (Lesley) Phillips, Marysville; George Eldon (Jennifer) Bump, Jr., Delaware; grandchildren, Aaron (Mary) Bowden, David (Amber) Phillips, Matthew (Shalee) Phillips, Lesley Phillips III, Chelsey Phillips, Marissa (Tyler) Yost, Breanna Phillips, Christopher Pike, Cheyenna Pike, Josh Young, Andy Young, and Samantha Young, and many great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Lee (Bob) Newman-Armstrong, Columbus and many nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Craig Bradds officiating. Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 to 1 on the day of the service.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 OH-37, Delaware, OH 43015.

George Jr and family. So sorry to hear of the passing of Karen. She was so very kind to my mom Norma. Her friendship was like no other. A very caring and kind person. May she be welcomed by angels in heaven.

George, I met you & your Mom when she worked at Ranco with my mom &  she needed a sitter for you.  You were around 2 or 3…I watched you till she could find a sitter... she was such a sweet person. She reached out to me on FB. Then we lost touch again. I am so sorry  I didn’t keep in touch with her.  She was always so proud of you.  Prayers for you & your family.
