Edgar Rasey
Edgar RaseyFlagEdgar Rasey, 94 of York Center, died early Monday morning, April 25, 2022 at Memorial Hospital of Union County.

He was born October 7, 1927 in Marion to the late Harvey and Clara Ruth (Scheltch) Rasey. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Gladie (Alsept) Rasey who died August 21, 2019; two sons, Clarence “Buzz” Rasey, Eddie Rasey; three brothers, Harvey Rasey, Jr., Robert Rasey, Cecil Rasey; and a daughter-in-law Vonda Sue Rasey.

Edgar lived to fish and hunt. He enjoyed spending time at his cabins in Michigan and house at Indian Lake. He wanted to make sure that anyone who enjoyed hunting and fishing had access to his properties and would share tips and teach them in any way he could. His main focus was always his wife, Gladie. They were married for over 70 years and were inseparable until she passed away in 2019. He was a retired lineman for Ohio Edison and a U.S. Army veteran. He had many hobbies including wood working, gardening and making his own fish flies. He was always willing to help anyone in any way he could and was never afraid to say exactly what was on his mind. He was the person everyone went to for everything and he could fix anything.

He is survived by a son, Larry Rasey, York Center; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Rasey, Marion; 4 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Larry Burchett officiating. Burial will follow in York Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Autism Speaks Organization, 4700 Rockside Rd #420, Independence, OH 44131.

My prayers go out to the family. My husband, Jim Fox, worked with Ed at Ohio Edison for many years. Jim visited Ed often and enjoyed those visits greatly. Jim always said that Ed was the toughest person he ever worked with. I am sure Ed and Jim are enjoying one of those special visits in Heaven today.  Sincerely, Susan Fox

You can be proud of the job Ed provided the customers of Ohio Edison.  He was there to serve and did an outstanding job.  As a former division manager of Ohio Edison, I could always count on Ed.  I have the fondest memories of Ed and extend my sympathies to his family.
