Janice Lee Jones
GardeningJanice Lee Jones, 83 of Richwood, passed from this life to Heaven on March 18, 2022.

She was born May 31, 1938 in Dry Fork, West Virginia to the late Gordon and Clemence (Roy) Pennington.

On February 18, 1962 she married Raymond Jones and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jones, two brothers: George (Charlotte) Pennington and Ronald (Carol) Pennington, brother in law, Walter Jones and his family, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by the family of her heart whom she considered her grandson and great grandchildren, Chuckie (Jenn) Ehret  and their daughters, Kalynne, Kennedy and Karlee.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Beatrice Faye and Helen, a brother Ezra and an infant brother David

Janice loved flowers and gardening. She especially liked daylilies and sunflowers. She also enjoyed watching the birds and just like her mom, cardinals were her favorite.

She enjoyed the Richwood Fair Flower Show and was very proud of how it has grown through the years. She was a member of the Progressive Buds Garden Club for more than 50 years. She also held many positions on the county and state level boards through the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. She had worked as a professional florist at Sheila’s Flowers in Richwood and Marysville Floral.

Janice had attended the Union Baptist Church and taught religious education for the North Union Schools.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue, Pastor John Ramsey will officiate, burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home in LaRue.

The family has requested that everyone wear masks in consideration of their families health.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society as Janice was a 42 year survivor.

When I joined the Progressive Bud Garden Club Janice took me under her wing. She taught me so much and was a really special lady.. We will miss her and we all have great memories due to her. Heaven just received a very wonderful woman.

Raymond & Barb I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with your family. I have so many fond memories working with Janice at Sheila’s. She taught me(the new kid at that time)about flowers and floral design. She was a talented lady.

I have known Janice since the 70's through our work in the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. She was so friendly and kind.  The sharing of her many talents has been greatly appreciated throughout the years.  I pray many happy memories of your times together bring you much joy and comfort.

So very sorry to hear of Janice's passing. I regret not stopping in and seeing her. She was always such a caring lady. We belonged to a local arts and crafts club 50 plus years ago. Many fond memories. Prayers and thoughts for the family.

Janice and the work she has done keeping flowers blooming around town, especially the fair flower show, will be greatly missed.  I think she was especially known as "the flower lady."  My condolence to Barbara and to Mr. Jones.

Janice was a kind wonderful person. I knew her thru the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. Always a smiling face when she greeted you. She will be missed by many. I will hold my memories of her close. My condolence to her family.
