Paul Eugene “Gene” Tevis
Paul Eugene “Gene” TevisBlockOPaul Eugene “Gene” Tevis, 86 of Marion, left this earth to be with his heavenly Father on January 22, 2022 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, he was surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born April 27, 1935 to the late Claude and Nellie Mae (Saxton) Tevis in Kilbourne (Delaware County). His family moved to the Broadway-Raymond area in Union County. Paul attended Broadway School which consolidated with Raymond and was re-named Northwestern School, where he graduated from.

On December 31, 1954 he married the late JoAnne Elizabeth (Jacobs) Tevis at the Richmond Methodist Church and she died December 6, 2011. They moved to the Richwood area and were blessed with five children who attended and graduated from the North Union Schools.

Paul is survived by his devoted partner: Norma Moore of Marion, his five children: Mary (Bruce) Robinson of Green Camp, Melissa (Robert) Werley of Vermillion, Debra (David) Clayton of Marion, Paul Eugene (Molly) Tevis Jr. of Steubenville and Pamela (Richard) Fussell of Dickinson, Texas
Grandchildren: Adam Clayton, Michael (Barbie) Fussell, Alex (Jordan) Fussell, Eric (Lauren) Fussell, Lindsey (Adam) Kovacs, Cindy (Mason) Platt, Allison (Andy) Price, Emily (Greg) Reichman, Ashley Tevis, Amber Werley, Drew Werley, Kendra Werley, Matt (Amy) Werley and Danielle (Drako) Withington
16 great grandchildren

Siblings: Richard (Betty) Tevis of Raymond, Nancy (Dan) Penhorwood of Raymond, Jerry (Linda) Tevis of Bellefontaine and Sally Tevis Berry of Ottawa Lake, Michigan
Two sisters: Mary Tevis and Betty Tevis Meyer preceded him in death

Paul retired in 1996 from the Marion Power Shovel after 42 years of service. He enjoyed his membership in the “Hicks & Chicks” Square Dance Club for several years. He was also a member of the 25-year MPS Club and the Swamp Fox Camping Club. He was a former member of the Crosswoods United Methodist Church in Marion.

Following retirement from Marion Power Shovel, he and Joanne spent 21 winters in Lake Wales, Florida. They enjoyed may activities with friends. Paul was an avid card player, shuffleboard participant and a handyman for whomever needed help.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 29, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, Pastor Wayne Evans will officate. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the services beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home in Richwood. (Everyone is welcome to wear their OSU Buckeye colors to celebrate his life).

Very sorry for your loss. I believe my dad, Dick Beeney, who passed in 1971, probably worked with Paul at MPS. I definitely remember your mother from 4-H days when I think she was a leader in Claibourne with my mom, Thelma. It’s hard to believe that was all more than 50 years ago. I’m awfully glad they taught me to cook!

We were so sorry to hear of Gene's passing. He was a great friend to my parents. They had so many good times  at Getaway Lakes and in Lake Wales.  We appreciated all he did for Dad and Mom after Dad's stroke. We loved him. Even after Dad's passing he and Norma would check on Mom. I am so sorry for your family's loss. Gene was a very nice man and I only had the pleasure of knowing him a few years, but I know he had been at this park for quite some time and had a lot of friends here.
