James Russell Fox
James Russell FoxTomato GardenJames Russell Fox, 84 of Richwood, died peacefully early Tuesday morning December 14, 2021 at his home.

He was born March 31, 1937 in Union County to the late Walter Fox and Vera Edna (Collins) Pryor.

Also Greeting Jim at the Gates of Heaven along with his parents are brothers, Bob and Jack Fox and sister Joan Lane-Earhart, and dearest friends Floyd J. and John D.

Jim graduated in 1956 from Richwood High School where he played football, ran track. He worked for Ohio Edison as a lineman for 39 1/2 yrs. before retiring in 1996.

He loved to hunt and fish his whole life until he was no longer able. Jim was known for growing large gardens full of tomatoes and potatoes which he shared with family and neighbors.

For 43 years he enjoyed the company of many cherished friends he had met through Bill and Bob.

He was always a man of great kindness and great love for his family.

Surviving is his wife Susan J. (Oberdier) Fox, they were married November 7, 1992 in Essex.
Also surviving are his children: Tamara Fox of Marion, Paula Fox and James A. Fox both of Bryan, Texas
Stepchildren: Angela Fields (Chad Smith) of Marysville and Chelle Fields of Newark

13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his former spouse, Barbara Vance Fox of Bryan, Texas.

The family would like to thank Ohio Health Hospice, especially Suzette, Teressa, Emily, and Tiffany for the gentle and loving care they provided to Jim and family. Truly a gift from God has been received from them.

Graveside services will be held Monday December 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Price Cemetery. Carroll Brown will officiate.

The family is requesting social distancing and mask wearing at the cemetery

The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood is assisting the family

Memorial gifts may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047

We are so very sorry for your loss   Jim was good friends with my brother Jim in high school, and as  coworker at Ohio Edison . Susan and Jim were so kind to and good friends with my brother and wife Jean until my brother Jim’s death   Susan, you and your family are in our prayers!

Sorry to hear of Jim’s passing.Played sports with Jim in high school.He was a gifted athlete being on of our 3 great backs on the 1956 undeafeted football team.I believe he also placed 2nd in pole vault at the state track meet and held the Richwood pool vault record.

I never met Jim R. Fox but I love his son, Jim A. Fox, like a brother. He often spoke of his Father and how he molded the man he is today. He will be missed but he was loved very much. My deepest sympathies for the entire Fox Family. I am always there for you brother!!

My Heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to Tammy, Paula, & Jimmy as well as the entire Fox family at this troubling time.
I have been a live friend of the Fox family and have many fond memories of Jim and his children. I can sincerely say Jim will be truly missed.
I will be attending the graveside service to pay my respects.
