William “Bill” Robert Carey
William “Bill” Robert CareyFlagWilliam “Bill” Robert Carey, age 84 died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, October 5, 2021 at his home near New Bloomington and his immortal soul went to be with the Lord God.

William was born February 15, 1937 at the family home near Green Camp to the late Edwin J. and Lucile Mary (Lauer) Carey.

William spent his childhood on the family farm where he developed a love of both farming and animals.  He graduated valedictorian from Green Camp High School, class of 1955 and then attended Ohio State University  where he graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree.  Upon graduation from Ohio State he attended Texas A&M where he briefly pursued graduate studies.  He joined the Ohio Air National Guard and was called to active duty by the United States Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Upon his honorable discharge, William returned to the family farm to begin a lifelong farming career.

On November 4, 1962, William married Phyllis Ann (Daugherty) Carey who survives him along with their five sons; John P. (Signe) of University Park, Maryland, Mark R. (Nancy) of Upper Sandusky, David W. (Melinda) of Waldo, James A. (Stacie) of New Bloomington and Michael H. (Kellie) of Cheshire, and their eleven Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren.  He is also survived by his siblings: Richard W. Carey of Green Camp and Ruth Ann (Roger) Stoffer of Vero Beach, Florida along with numerous nephews, nieces, and their families.  William was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Charles H. Carey.

William will be greatly missed by all his surviving family. William was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and he never shied from sharing his love along with his knowledge and the wisdom he acquired throughout his life with his family.  When time permitted, he also enjoyed several other interests including history, photography, collecting and repairing various antiques and tools, and amateur radio.  

Family and friends may call Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2 to 5 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11 am at the funeral home in Richwood.
A private burial with Military Honors will be conducted in the Price Cemetery at a later date.

So sorry to see your fathers obituary.  I enjoyed talking to him when he came into the post office.  You are fortunate to have had such a loving father.  He will be in your hearts forever.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear of his passing and condolences to Phyliss and the boys.Bill was one of my best friends from first grade on through life. He is probably up there now sitting in a Seagraves Fire Truck looking at antique auction ads.
