John William Gilbert
John William GilbertMichigan WolverinesJohn William Gilbert, 69 of New Bloomington, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, June 2, 2021 at his home.

He was born November 1, 1951 in Jackson, Michigan to the late Donald W. and Kathleen Mae (Anderson) Gilbert, he was also preceded in death by a sister: Grace Applegate.

John was the Number 1 Michigan Wolverines football fan. He graduated from Britton-Maron High School in Britton, MI (1971). He enjoyed working on the Cary Pioneer Farm in Alma, Michigan. John then retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 2010.  He enjoyed spending time with family at home and visiting his niece, Jeannie Marie Stacy and other family in Tollesboro, Kentucky.

Surviving is his wife, Betty L (Fields) Gilbert, they were married February 15,1997 in Tollesboro, Ky.
Also surviving are his children: Andy Gilbert (Heather), Owosso, MI, Jake Gilbert (Terri), St Louis, MI, Teri Gluszek (Eric), Brunswick, Tami Fields (Tim Watkins) LaRue, Tonya Canterbury, Prospect and Tiffany Canterbury, New Bloomington

Grandchildren, Alexis Lee-Gilbert, Maci Gilbert, Anna Gilbert, Stephen B. Workman Jr, Travis R. Keckler, Tyson S. Retterer and Alena G. Nungester

Great granddaughter, Sophia N. Gilbert

Siblings, Nancy (Sam) Hamilton of Paintsville, KY, Robert (Mary) Gilbert of Greenfield and David Gilbert of Tecumseh, MI

Graveside services will be held Saturday June 12, 2021 at 12 noon at the Agosta Cemetery, Chaplain Ray Vance will officiate.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Kindred Hospice at 1199 Delaware Ave #102a, Marion, OH 43302

The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue is assisting the family.
