Alice Chandler
Alice ChandlerCross and FlameAlice Chandler, 82 of Richwood, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Tuesday April 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at the Ohio State Medical Center. Her positive attitude, kindness and appreciation for others was unmatched even in her last days.

She was born October 9, 1938 in Fayette County to the late Clyde and Mildred (Parsons) Sayre. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ivan L. Chandler, they were married March 29, 1957 in Essex and he died October 25, of 2020. She was also predeceased by a great grandson, Elijah Fife and brothers: Leo Sayre, Gene Sayre, Raymond Martin and Warren Sayre.

Alice was a lifelong member of the Rush Creek (Essex) United Methodist Church and was very active in her service to the church and her community. She was a member of the WSCS, cooked countless funeral dinners, alumni dinners and catered many special events. When the church was between pastors, she would even preach on Sunday morning. Her faith was unshakable and the life she lived was a testimony to that faith.

Alice had worked at the former IGA in Richwood and made many friends there, she had also worked at Tecumseh in Marion. She then finished her working career as the Head Cook for the North Union Schools. People came from far and wide for her homemade chicken and noodles.

Alice won her battle with breast cancer, however the chemo ruined her kidneys, so for the last 6 years, she has been on dialysis. She loved her dialysis friends and nurses. She was known to them as “Grandma Alice”.

There was always a game on with Alice, she loved her North Union Wildcats and the OSU Buckeyes.
She also enjoyed trees, flowers, working in her yard, fishing and traveling.

Her entire family was the light of her life and greatest joy!
Surviving are her daughters: Vickie (Eric) Willey of Prospect and Susan Walker of Ostrander.

Grandchildren: David Chandler (Lindsey) Willey, Kacie Biggs, Jason (Heather) Willey, Amanda (Matt) Fife and Whitney (Justin) Wright.
Great grandchildren: Layla and Laynie Willey, Jace Biggs, Logan, Sydney, Henry and Eugene Willey, Ryan Drum, Reihna Wright and Ellie and Josiah Fife

Alice and Ivan were both such good people and great neighbors to have down the road my whole life. Alice was such a wonderful person with a huge heart. She cared about people. She rarely talked about the struggles she was going through. She would much rather offer an encouraging word to you if you needed it. I will miss Alice and her big heart and broad smile.

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and close friends of Alice.
We’ve been extremely blessed to be neighbors to Ivan and Alice for many years.
This past winter after taking Alice back home after a Dr appointment I was so blessed to spend about a hour visiting with her.
To say she loved her family would be a tremendous under statement.
As she looked around the room of all the pictures of each one of you she shared stories after stories. What an amazing love story she told.
It’s never easy when we lose our loved ones no matter what age they might be.
We will be praying for you all in the days ahead.
Please know there was a huge reunion in Heaven when she took her last breath her. Her love for Jesus shines through her every word.
Her amazing life was filled with love ❤️

I encourage all who were blessed to know her. Hold dear to the wonderful memories you have.
Live-Laugh-Love
May God bless you all in Christ love
Jeff and Pam

Dear Vicki and Susan, I was looking for an obituary of a friend and came upon your Mothers. I also saw that Ivan had passed. I am so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful parents. They were so good to me and I will always remember them making time to move me. Ivan had the best smile and your Mom would treat me like one of her girls. I remember her giving me advice. I will always appreciate that they kindly took me in and helped me. My love to both of you! I have always remembered you both fondly.  Diana
