Catherine I. "Katie" Cooper
Catherine I. Bird HummingbirdCatherine I. “Katie” Cooper, 83 of LaRue, died late Sunday evening  March 28 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 30, 1937 in Marion to the late Richard J. and Donna Mae (Pierce) Zender. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Martin Manford Cooper Sr. they were married in Marion August 7, 1967 and he died December 5, 2015. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Donna Marie Cooper, sister, Evelyn Joan Bollinger, in-laws Ernest Arcuri, Marilyn Zender,and granddaughter Katrina Kay Fridley.

After school, Katie worked for the former Sycon and Abotts in Marion. She would go on to complete her G.E.D. from Marion Harding High School in 1987, the same year as her daughter Rhonda.

A true homebody, Katie could often be found sitting on her front porch enjoying the outdoors, especially her hummingbirds. She had an easy-going demeanor with a great sense of humor, and rarely missed an episode of Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz. It was also known that you never left Katie’s house hungry.

Surviving are her children: Martin (Christina) Cooper Jr., LaRue, Michael A. (Cindy) Cooper, West Mansfield, Ed (Billie) Fridley, Harpster, Mark (Sally) Fridley, Mansfield, Rhonda (Brian) Cooper Lane, Bellefontaine and Karen (Jeff Burt) Fridley, Marion, along with 24 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. A brother Richard E. Zender, and sister Janet M. Arcuri.

Friends may call Friday April 2, 2021 from 5-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 11 am at the Fairview Cemetery near LaRue, Pastors Tim Pasma and Shawn Anthony will officiate.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the LaRue Baptist Church PO Box 374 LaRue Ohio, 43332.
