David F. Jeffers
David F. JeffersFlagDavid F. Jeffers, 69 of Marion, loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and went to be with him on February 23, 2021 at his home, following a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s/Lewy Body Dementia.

He grew up as a member of the Green Camp Baptist Church, he later became a member of the LaRue Baptist Church and attended until he joined the service. After he returned from the service, he attended the Calvary Baptist Church for a short time.

He joined the Army at the age of 34, served seven years and was awarded numerous medals and badges during this time.

He was a 1970 graduate of the Elgin High School. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns and hated when the professional teams began kneeling during the National Anthem. He loved umpiring and it was the one thing he had always wished he had pursued professionally. He loved his days of growing up in Green Camp and all the backyard games of baseball and football and could talk for hours with his brother Dan reminiscing of their childhood days. He also loved playing basketball at the Green Camp Elementary gym on Sunday afternoons.

He loved taking road trips with his wife Janice. He never knew or cared where he was going, he just loved riding. He loved his family, his wonderful Aunt Kitty, all his nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

His beautiful eyes, sweet smile and wonderful sense of humor will be missed. We will mourn his departure from us but will be comforted knowing he is now in his forever home with Jesus Christ. No more pain and no more suffering for the victory has been won due to the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for us.

He was born May 26, 1951 in Marion to the late Floyd and Eleanor (Kempton) Jeffers.
Surviving is his wife: Janice (Greene) Jeffers, they were married February 2, 1974 at the Green Camp Baptist Church. Also surviving are their sons: David Scott (Rini) Jeffers of Vermillion and Frederick Ryan Jeffers of Delaware
Grandchildren: Carter and Charlie Belle Jeffers
Siblings: Dan (Nancy) Jeffers of LaRue and Debbie (Richard) Robinson of Irwin
Many nieces and nephews and extended family

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 27, 2021 at 12 noon at the LaRue Baptist Church, Pastor Tim Pasma will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
There will be Military Honors conducted by the Marion Area United Veterans Council. Burial will follow in the LaRue Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn and The Parkinson’s Foundation

The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Great memories from Green Camp, the church, youth activities, playing baseball and football in yards, and basketball in the gym.
Nothing better during this life than knowing Jesus as Savior and One who controls our life. A great promise that God gives in life with Him after this one.
