Union County lost a pioneer in the developmental disabilities field with the passing of Lynn Gray.  Upon my arrival to Union County in 1981, I soon realized that the backbone of the Harold Lewis Center (formerly known as the School of Opportunity) was shared by Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Rinehart.  Lynn, though small in stature, stood above all others due to her knowledge of the community and her compassion of children with disabilities.  I thank her for her time and dedication to the improving lives of people with disabilities throughout her life.

My condolences to her family.  Your wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother was a true treasure.

Hugs and prayers to all the family.  Emma Lynn played an instrumental part in my Christian faith beginning at a very early age.    Singing before breaking out for Sunday School class.  Each Sunday morning started with “Come Into My Heart Lord Jesus”.  She taught us sign language for songs when we would sing upstairs and VBS,  And of course the guys Donnie, Tom, and Bill would always be in trouble when “Deep and  Wide” would be played as they would fling their arms so forcefully to hit each other in the guts... she always tried to make them spread out but it never lasted long.  Fun times!  May you have peace knowing the next time you meet it will be forever!  Many hugs!!

To the Gray Family,
I was sorry to learn of the losses with which your family is coping. The Gray family devoted themselves to being good stewards of the family farm. Dr. Holcomb always enjoyed his visits with Bernard and Dorothea. They centered around agriculture in general and the Gray farm in particular. Bill spent his summers working on his mother's family's farm. That experience was precious to him and he enjoyed talking about it with receptive listeners.

Your mother and father carried on that excellent stewardship and shared their gifts generously with community organizations. Both grandparents and parents have left an encouraging legacy for the next generations.

My love and deepest sympathy .
Barbara Holcomb
