Daniel Joe Laughrey

Daniel Joe Laughrey, 83, of Richwood, died Friday evening December 11, 2020 at the Marion Manor. He was born in Broadway on September 26, 1937 to the late Luther L. and Mildred Laverne (DeBolt) Laughrey, he was also preceded in death by three brothers: Luther Jr., Alfred and Gail Laughrey. Dan was a retired electrician working out of Local #688 in Mansfield. He had worked at Marion Power Shovel and was proud that he was able to be part of the NASA Crawler project. Dan had his pilot’s license and genuinely loved flying planes, this kept with his free spirit. He enjoyed the time he was able to spend with Bill Nibert and Dick Packer flying. He also cherished his time on the farm and when younger, waterskiing. One of the things Dan really enjoyed was being able to go to family reunions. Surviving are his devoted daughters: Faith (Rick) Mount of Mt. Victory, Jill (Mike) Kirby of Richwood and Joni (Terry) Hunt of Delaware. Grandchildren: Jeremy (Joyce) Mount, Kyle Anne (Chad) Lee, Abby (Chris) Widman, Billy (Alison) Mount, Kacy Kirby, Karmon (Alex) Dorsey, Kayne (Kathleen) Kirby, Levi (Tesa) Williamson, Chaise (Danielle) Williamson, Breck (Megan) Williamson and Blare (Mallory) Garrison 24 great grandchildren Dear special friend: Eileen Kale of Richwood, Dan loved going to tractor pulls with Ike. Public graveside services (everyone is welcome) will be held Tuesday December 15, 2020 at 12 noon at the Claibourne Cemetery, Pastor Jim Gardner will officiate. Private family calling hours will be held. The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood is assisting the family. Mon, Jan 4, 2021 at 9:32 PM Danny and I rode the school bus together for a while.We were in the same grade at school.I called him Twang but don't know where that came from.We tried riding calves on our farm  and some cows on his farm Don't think it worked out very well, but we always had a good time trying.He was a great person and will be missed.
