Rodney A. Armstrong
Rodney A. ArmstrongFishermanRodney A. Armstrong, 71, of New Bloomington, died unexpectedly Thursday November 26, 2020 at the Marion General Hospital emergency room.

He was born June 8, 1949 in LaRue to the late David and Myredia (Bentley) Armstrong, he was also preceded in death by a brother: Roger England and a sister: Shirley Mitchell.

Rodney was retired from Midwest Lettering in Marion as a Graphic Artist, he worked there 26 years. He was a 1969 graduate of the Elgin High School and received a degree from the Ohio Institute of Fine Arts.

Rodney was a longtime, dedicated member of the LaRue Baptist Church. He loved helping with the church’s Vacation Bible School.

He had a passion for fishing, Minnesota was a favorite spot for him. He really enjoyed taking family and friends fishing whenever he could. He was also a very talented painter and artist. Rodney was also an exceptional pool player and when he was younger, he enjoyed golfing and bowling.

During football and basketball season he could always be found rooting for his OSU Buckeyes.

Surviving is his wife, Mary (Decker) Armstrong, they were married December 28, 1974 in LaRue, also surviving is his daughter: Ronda Anna Armstrong of New Bloomington, his grandkids who called him “Pappy”, Anthony D. (Christina Davis) Short, Caleb M. Armstrong and Rodney Alexander Armstrong
Great grandson, Ayden Boggs
Siblings: Ronald David (Jackie) Armstrong of Marion and Jennifer (John) McCrary of LaRue

Funeral services will be held Monday November 30, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the LaRue Baptist Church, Pastor Tim Pasma will officiate, friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church, (strict covid precautions will be enforced), burial will follow in the Agosta Cemetery.
The family would like anyone who has a piece of artwork that Rodney made for them to bring it to the funeral to share.

The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue is assisting the family
