Vonda Sue Rasey
Vonda Sue RaseyCrossVonda Sue Rasey, 62 of West Mansfield died peacefully Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Community Care and Rehabilitation in Marion.

She was born July 17, 1957 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Dean and Alene (Ray) Patrick. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Larry Dean Patrick, Brice Patrick, and a sister, Barbara Haman.

She married Larry Rasey in 1972 and he survives in York Center.

Vonda loved Jesus and took every opportunity to testify to anyone and everyone and share her faith. She loved attending Grace Chapel House of Prayer in Byhalia for many years. She also loved visiting Fritz Church of God in Kentucky which her dad founded and her Brother Dallas still pastors today. She loved southern gospel music and old hymns. She loved her grandchildren more than anything on earth and never stopped working to share her faith and morals with them. She loved cooking and feeding people. She showed concern for everyone, even when she was desperately ill.

Vonda loved to travel. She spent many summers camping with family throughout New England and Canada. She also enjoyed many trips to Michigan and Tennessee. She enjoyed traveling to Kentucky to be with her family and childhood friends. She loved gardening and canning. She worked very hard her entire life and never gave up when faced with hard times.

She didn’t pull any punches with anyone. You got her opinion whether you asked for it or not and if she saw something that wasn't right, she would call you out on it regardless of who it was. No matter where she went, everyone loved her. She felt like a mom or grandma or aunt to just about anyone she came in contact with.

She is survived by her children, Larry Brice (Melissa) Rasey Richwood; Rebecca Davis, York Center; grandchildren, Zachariah Davis, Christopher Davis, Christa Davis, Joshua Rasey, Nathanial Rasey, Ryleigh Rasey; two brothers, Douglas (Rose) Patrick, Salyersville, KY; Dallas (Mary Ann) Patrick, Salyersville, KY; three sisters, Bethel Stephens, Salyersville, KY; Berniece Stephens, Flemingsburg, KY; Christine Stubbe, Salyersville, KY; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jessica Elam and Janet Rice were more like daughters to her.

Graveside services (everyone is welcome) will be Monday, May 4, 2020 at approximately 12:30 PM at York Cemetery with Pastor Larry Burchett officiating. Due to the current health situation, private funeral service for family only will take place at 11:00 AM at the Grace Chapel House of Prayer.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Grace Chapel House of Prayer, P. O. Box 36, Richwood, OH 43344 and the Fritz Church of God, HC-61, Box 648, Salyersville, KY 41465

Our hearts are heavy for all the family and especially our good friend Larry. However, we're very happy our precious friend has made home! There is no greater reward for her many years of Christian service and loving and caring for so many, us included. We count it a privilege, honor and blessing to have had the opportunity of knowing Mrs Vonda and having many wonderful talks with her. Our love and prayers are with y'all during this difficult time.

My deepest Condolences to Ms. Vondas family.  I loved taking care of Vonda. I met her when she first came to Community 8 years ago for  Rehab. I had the pleasure of taking care of her just a few days before she passed.  Vonda was a very kind and beautiful person. We had many conversations over the years.  I always called her   Ms. Vonda. So, Ms. Vonda I want you to know that I will miss you and you will not be forgotten
