Carroll D. Long
Always with a smile on her face and love in her heart, she was devoted to family and friends.
Carroll D. Long died Thursday morning, September 8, 2005, at her home in Prospect after a lengthy illness at the age of 90.
She is survived by Ronald L. (Johnnie) Long, her devoted husband and closest friend, after being married for 70 years.  They were married in Florence, Kentucky on June 21, 1935.  From that marriage came three children:  Judi (Bob) Rodgers, Becky (Curt) Roller, and Stu (Sharry) Long, who survive her.  She was also blessed with nine grandchildren: Lori Rodgers, Lisa Hubler, Jan Dahlson, Jill Dahlson, Amy Burgess, Anna Gibson, Michael Roller, Julie Roller, and Malinda Long-Copland.  Carroll also boasted of twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Born on February 24, 1915, to Dio D. Dix and Cecile Stockwell Dix, she was a lifelong native of Prospect.  
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Edwin M. Dix and John N. Dix.
Carroll was a homemaker who loved to read and was an outstanding seamstress who made prom dresses for her daughters.  She was a member of the Prospect Methodist Church, the CCL, a past president of the Prospect Band Parents, and for forty years delighted in being a member of a bridge club.  Family photography and creating family albums was a favorite hobby, along with playing the organ for anyone who requested  she play their favorite songs.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesday, September 13, at the Prospect Methodist Church.  The funeral service will begin at 6:30 PM that evening with the Reverend David Hoffman officiating. A meal will be provided for family and friends at the church immediately following the service.
Interment will be in the Prospect cemetery on Wednesday morning. Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Senior Citizens, 318 N. Elm St. or Prospect United Methodist Church, 203 N. Elm St, Prospect, OH  43342.  Arrangements are being handled by Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect.  Condolences to the family may be sent online at www.ballingerfuneralhome.com.

Ronnie and family,
I just read about Carroll - I am so sorry.
Willis and I enjoyed knowing her for almost
50 years - loved reading her updates on her
beloved children and grandchildren.  Ronnie,

I just read of Carroll"s passing to her new life in the Marion Star. She was one of my favorite people from Prospect. I always remember the beautiful things she made. Please know my Sympathy is with the family at this time.

I was so sorry to hear about Carroll.I have many fond memories of her when my family lived on Water Street. My Grandma Daugherty always spoke so highly of her. I know she will be missed by all of you. Take care.  Sincerely, Cheryl
