Elizabeth Ann "Betty" McElroy
Elizabeth Ann Red Rose2Elizabeth Ann “Betty” McElroy, 85, of Richwood, died peacefully Sunday morning May 26, 2019, at her home. She was born in Marysville on September 7, 1933 to the late Virgil F. and Mary Kathryn (Hutson) Eaches. Also preceding her in death was her husband, James L. ‘Red’ McElroy on August 25, 2002, and they were married in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on April 28, 1952.

Betty was a 1951 graduate of Richwood High School. She then went on to work at Scotts in Marysville for over 30 years, wearing many different hats during her tenure, but finishing in the shipping and receiving department.

In her spare time, Betty was always on the move. She loved to go on the many fishing trips with her husband and their two sons, enjoyed going to the ballpark to watch the Indians, and was even known to be an exceptional bowler, traveling for tournaments across the US.

However, the true center of Betty’s life was her family. She loved her husband and was always in the mood for an adventure with him, whether that be horse racing, going to car races, or just traveling around the country. Even as her sons grew and moved around across the country, Betty made it a point to keep close as a family. If the boys needed her for anything, they knew they could count on her to be there at a moments notice.

Surviving are their sons Gregory W. (Carol Wedeman) McElroy, Brownwood, Texas, and Ricky James (Robin Lynn) McElroy, Peoria, Arizona. Grandsons Quinn James McElroy, and Jason (Christina) Wedeman. Great-grandchildren Daniel, April, Brayton, and Cole. Also surviving, a brother Bill Eaches, Cardington, and a sister, Johna Nibert, Richwood. Betty and Johna were more than just sisters, but rather best friends. Many around Richwood knew them as ‘”two peas in a pod”. Betty also had many dear friends that meant the world to her and served as her extended family.

Funeral Services will be held Friday May 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, Pastor Craig Bradds will officiate, burial will follow at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday May 30, 2019 from 5-7 at the funeral home in Richwood.

Mim, the love we share cannot be described in words. It however, can be expressed through the many hug naps we'd share, the endless game of who will say 'i love you' last before hanging up the phone, the laughs, joy, and the countless memories that will forever enlighten our world. I have you to thank for my blessings and the rich life I get to live in honor of your amazing time on Earth. You showed me unconditional love: love of singing, love of dancing, love of family, love of community, and most importantly love of life. You knew how to have fun and love family, and I will always be able to count on you for these superpowers. I love you so much Mim.
