Eugene O. Pendleton
Eugene O. PendletonWalleyeEugene O. Pendleton, 84 of Prospect, died peacefully Sunday, July 15, 2018 at his home.

He was born October 1, 1933 in Ridgeway to the late Frederick and Mildred (Holt) Pendleton. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Pendleton-Compton, and a brother, Dale Pendleton.

On December 2, 1956 he married the former JoAnn Drown in Takoma Park, Maryland and she survives.

A graduate of Elm Valley (Ashley) High school, he served as Staff Seargent in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from Sept. 1953 to Sept. 1957. He then worked as a Tool & Die Maker at Ranco in Delaware and Plain City for 45 years. Eugene served as Councilman of the Village of Prospect from 1973 - 1981 and was voted in as Mayor of the Village of Prospect from 1974 - 1999. He was a member of the Prospect Lions Club and Verne I. Mounts Prospect American Legion #368 where he was Post Commander for the last 5 years. He loved fishing at Lake Erie.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Susan (Paul) Schweinfurth, Prospect; Shirley (John) Hyatt, Prospect; Shari (Barry) Baxter, Prospect; grandchildren, Stacey (PJ) Reeb, Steven (Staci) Schweinfurth, Andrew Schweinfurth, Jessica (Nicholas) Hoodlet, Jason (Ashley) Baxter, Alex Compton, great-grandchildren, Taylor & Bennett Reeb, Landon, Josie, Kris & Alexa Hoodlet, Landon Manning, Colt & Hunter Baxter; brothers, Edward (Irene) Pendleton, Marengo; Margaret J. Church, Dixon, Missouri; John (Karen) Pendleton, Ashley.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect with Pastor Steve Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Prospect.

Memorial gifts may be given to Prospect Park, P. O. Box 426, Prospect, OH 43342.

Mr. Pendleton was a great neighbor to me for many years. He also shared the same name as my dad. Thank you for fighting for our country. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family today
