Bernice Evelyn (Owens) Phipps |
Bernice Evelyn (Owens) Phipps, 93 of Somersville, died Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Monarch Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Marysville.
She was born January 13, 1924 in Delaware County to the late Lloyd and Hazel (Mitchell) Owens. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Flohr.
On September 29, 1946 she married Beryl L. Phipps in Lancaster, and he died July 23, 2003.
Bernice attended the Somersville Friends Church and was a Sunday School teacher for the Youth for over 50 years. She had a 40-year perfect attendance record.
She is survived by two sons, Lloyd Phipps, Somersville; Jerry (Denise) Phipps, Prospect, two grandchildren, Barry and Lindsey Phipps; a brother, Robert (Joann) Owens, Raymond; a sister, Mabel Boerger, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Ken Purdue officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM.

I want to let you know your mom, Ms. Bernice made a difference in my life as kid. She was faithful to pick up my sister and me for Sunday School. Through the years, we write or talk a little on the phone. I loved her very much and will miss our talks. I know she very happy, throu.❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss. Bernice was such a huge part of my family almost my whole life and loved her very much. I will miss seeing her sit in her colorful chairs in front of her garage. She gave so much to others her whole life and will missed tremendously.

Bernice was my Sunday school teacher . She was good at it . I will always remember her . She will be missed . Sorry for your loss my prayers are with you and your family . I will miss her
