Betty Lou Sager
Betty Lou SagerBetty Lou Sager 92 formerly of LaRue, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2017 in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Betty was born in Hardin County on September 12, 1924 to the late Thelma (Lingo) and Waldo Ballinger.

Betty married Paul William Sager on February 17th, 1943 and they were able to celebrate their 74th wedding anniversary before his passing on March 3rd, 2017.

Betty graduated from LaRue High School in 1943 and was a 1963 graduate of Ohio Northern University. Betty taught elementary school for 31 yrs in the Elgin School District. Betty was a member of the Mary Lenox chapter of Eastern Star serving as Matron in 1953 and Grand Worthy Matron in 1955. She was a member of The LaRue United Methodist Church, Happie Tyme Club, and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Phillipi Clement Post 101.

A lifelong hostess, Betty loved entertaining and cooking. She particularly enjoyed family reunions, Paul's Navy reunions and celebrating holidays with family on the farm. In later years she and Paul loved traveling to visit their children and grand kids.

Preceding her in death was her husband Paul William Sager. She is survived by her sons Jim Sager, Columbus; Jon (Debby) Sager, Newbury Park, California; daughters Tamyan (Scott) Gandert, Apex, North Carolina; and Trisha Girard, Williamsburg, Va. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Betty is also survived by her brother, Ronald Burke Ballinger of Palm Springs, CA.

A joint memorial service will be held for Paul and Betty on August 5th at 10 a.m. at the LaRue Cemetery, Pastor Mike Raypholtz will officiate, there will be Military Honors for Paul conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council.

Memorial gifts may be made to the LaRue United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 327 LaRue, Ohio 43332.

I always enjoyed seeing Betty when I visited the LaRue Elementary - her great smile and sense of humor were contagious.  My sincere sympathy to her family - I have many memories of each of you during your years at Elgin High School!  Rita Lou Rubeck Headington Parker - EHS Library '65-'96

My heart aches for you loss. I loved Betty and Paul with all heart. Betty was my favorite teacher. And they were my favorite Friday night Coonies customers. Forever in my heart.

What a Special, Sweet lady.  Betty and Paul were such a  beautiful couple that always had a smile and enjoyed life together so much.  We always looked forward to seeing them at coonies on friday night with all their friends, they always had so much fun!!!  RIP dear Betty and Paul!!  Xo
