David Lee Hawkins
David Lee HawkinsNatureDavid Lee Hawkins of Prospect passed away peacefully Thursday, September 22, 2016 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born October 23, 1946 in Ansted, West Virginia to the late Isaac Vernon and Gladys Faye (Legg) Hawkins.  He was also preceded in death by brothers Paul, Jim and Charles Hawkins and a sister, Lulabelle Kincaid.

He was the seventh born of eight children.  The Hawkins family relocated to the Marion County area during his early childhood and David was a graduate of Pleasant High School, class of 1964.

When I worked with Linda, David knew I collected Koala Bear 'stuff'.  He gave me several different items, but my favorite was the shell-covered 'koala' that he was so pleased to have found.  Linda and I never had the heart to tell him it was actually a pig!! Linda, you and the  family are in my prayers!  Love you.

To..Linda and all the Hawkins family I am so sorry to hear about the passing of David. I got to know David and the whole Hawkins family when I worked at the Harding Motor Lodge taking care of his mom until she passed away. I have very fond memories of him and the whole Hawkins clan popping in and out to see their mom, mother-in-law and grandma. May you all find peace and comfort in the treasured memories of him and the strength in each other's love throughout this very difficult time. Love lives on forever in the heart. I am truly sadden by this news, but I know he will be greeted with open arms in a better place. Uncle Dave always welcomed me with the biggest hug and open arms on my visits to Prospect. Although my trips were rare and usually consisted of Fourth of July family reunions, I have never felt more at home and comfortable than when around David. He will be missed.
