Vernon D. Lane
Vernon D. LaneJohn Deere Logo OldVernon D. Lane, 80 of Richwood died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Presidential Center in Marion.  He was born February 26, 1935 in Union County to the late John Welling and Hazel (Kale) Lane.  He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Kenneth, Clifford and Eugene Lane; and a sister, Mary Cunningham.

On June 30, 1960 he married the former Geneva Sandy in Pharisburg and she survives in Richwood.

Vernon was a veteran of the U. S. Army reserves.  A life-long Union County resident who farmed since he was 16 years old, he retired from Whirlpool Corporation in 2001 after 35 years of service.  Vernon was a true family man, with family always coming first.  He loved being a farmer and enjoyed hunting when he was younger.  He enjoyed going out to eat, especially at Carlyle’s in Richwood.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Robin (Christopher) Sherman, Dublin; Lori Bosh, Richwood; grandchildren, Ashleigh Sherman, Zachary Sherman, Caleb Bosh, Kelsey Bosh, a sister, Twila Mulligan, Marysville, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Friends may call two hours prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.

Geneva, I was so sorry to read of Vern's passing. I worked with him for many years at Whirlpool. He was always a very hard and dedicated employee. My sympathies go out to you and your daughters. Will miss seeing you and Vern at the restaurant in Raymond.

So sorry to hear of Vernons passing.He was a good guy.When I was a high schooler Verny had a brand new 57 Chevy convertible..The car everybody wanted.Although Verny was about 4 years older he would haul  us around On Saturday nights.Great memories.
