Mary Jane Cox Zuspan
Mary Jane Cox ZuspanCross and FlameMary Jane Cox Zuspan, loving wife, mother, grandmother and teacher, died peacefully July 17, 2015 in Bloomington, MN at the age of 93.  Known as Jane, she lived a full and happy life from her birth October 28, 1921 in Hamden, Ohio until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alta and Hiram Cox, her loving husband of 67 years, Frederick P. Zuspan, siblings Carl Cox, Earl Cox and Ruth Staten, daughter-in-law, Sandra Miller, and grandson, Taylor S. Zuspan.  She is survived by her three children; Mark Zuspan, Kathryn Zuspan (William Kaylor) and Bethany (John) Valentine, as well as seven grandchildren; Sarah (Nick) Jampol, Laura Zuspan, Caroline Kaylor, Jennifer (Rob) Merto, Amy Klein (fiancé Joe Cabiles), Nicolaus Klein, and Matthew Valentine.  She is also survived by four great grandchildren: Scarlet Jampol, Jasper Jampol, Tyler Merto and Brandon Merto.  

Jane attended Ohio State University, where she received both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education.  During this time she met her future husband, to whom she was married November 23, 1943.  She taught elementary school in Richwood, Ohio during WWII.  After the war, Jane taught school to put her husband through medical school, and relocated the family multiple times (KY, GA, IL and OH again) as he climbed the ranks of academic medicine.

Jane was very active in the lives of her children, filling numerous leadership positions with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and PTA.  She was also very involved in the women's groups and Sunday School programs of her local Methodist churches.  She will be remembered as someone who loved her family greatly and for teaching and sharing her values with her children. Jane will be dearly missed by her family and loved ones across the country.

A family graveside service will be held in the fall in Richwood, Ohio to celebrate her life.
